Membership
As useful as monetary donations are, there is no resource more precious to us than our volunteers. We welcome anyone and everyone interested in joining our theatre. We do not charge any membership dues or fees, and membership is literally as simple as showing up, rolling up your sleeves, and getting involved! Check out our Calendar of Events and Volunteer Opportunities pages to look for ways to join our family.
Although we have recently made some significant progress in diversifying our membership, we continue to focus on recruiting (1) male actors, (2) youth, and (3) minority members.
Privileges and Expectations of Membership
Privileges: Discounted Show Tickets, Eligibility to Vote in Board Elections, Eligibility to Run for Board Positions, Eligibility to Direct a Show. Expectations: Volunteer 8 or more hours per quarter at official events. More details on active membership can be found in our by-laws. (To check your hours or to find opportunities to log more hours, consult with our Volunteer Coordinator.)
Not an actor? Not a problem! A theatre needs much more than actors to function, and there are many roles and capacities in which we can make use of your particular skills and experience.
Administrative
Our executive board consists of eleven different positions, each requiring different skillsets, including leadership, management, problem solving, team building, customer service, organization, communication, logistics, inventory, record keeping, scheduling, accounting, marketing, and facility maintenance.

Event Staff
An entire crew is needed to keep things fluid on the day of a show or an event. House Managers oversee the staff and ensure the facility is opened up before the show and battened down after. Box Office attendants conduct door sales. Ushers help get people checked-in and seated at their tables. Bussers keep tables clear of used dishes and trash. Concessions workers sell snacks and drinks. Cleaners help get the hall clean before and after a show.

Theatrical Artists
It takes more than just actors to put together a production. Plays require Directors, Lights & Sound Technicians, and Set Designers & Builders. Most plays also benefit from Costume Designers, Hair and Makeup Artists, Stage Managers, and Prop Managers.

Other Artists
We want artists of all disciplines to have a home at the Park Avenue Theatre and a family with The Machickanee Players – whether you are a singer, a musician, a dancer, painter, sculptor, artisan, craftsman, seamstress, writer, poet, or any other sort of creative person – we will find opportunities for you to put your skills to good use!
